Kylee Boettcher, a 2002 graduate of BVU and 4-year member of the BVU women's basketball program under Janet Berry, has spent the last five seasons as head girls basketball coach at Panorama High School in Panora, Iowa. During that span, she compiled an astounding overall record of 111-16, including a 25-2 mark and the program’s first-ever state tournament championship game appearance this season. Her teams also captured a pair of conference championships, three runner-up conference finishes, five regional finals appearances and made three straight trips to the state tournament (2022, 2023, 2024). She was also the junior high basketball coach and high school volunteer assistant for 11 years. Her athletic involvement has allowed her to be involved with six state tournament appearances (1995 & 1996 as a Panorama player; 2003 & 2005 assistant coach at Cherokee; 2013 & 2018 assistant coach at Panorama).
Kyle Bernhoft joined the Buena Vista women’s basketball program as assistant coach in 2022-23. During his first year on the BVU sideline, he helped coach a pair of Honorable Mention All-Conference players, seven Academic All-Conference selections and four Academic All-District individuals. As a team, BVU ranked third in free throw percentage as well as rebounding. Prior to being hired at BVU, Bernhoft spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where his primary responsibility was serving as recruiting coordinator. Before Northland, Bernhoft was the Head Girls Basketball Coach and Business Teacher at Mellen (WI) High School. The Granite Diggers won 34 games in his three seasons as coach and appeared in the 2014 WIAA Regional Championship. Bernhoft’s time at Mellen coincided with the final three seasons of conference foe South Shore’s Megan Gustafson, who would go on to star at the University of Iowa.
Prior to Mellen, Bernhoft served as Assistant Girls Basketball Coach and Business Teacher at Sheboygan Falls (WI) High School, coaching many of the players who would win the 2012-13 Eastern Wisconsin Conference Championship.
Bernhoft graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Business Education. While at Stout, he worked with WIAC Hall of Fame coach Mark Thomas and future University of Dubuque Head Coach Mark Noll as a student-assistant. The Lady Blue Devils won three consecutive WIAC regular season and tournament championships during this time and produced two NCAA Division III All-Americans. During his senior year at Stout, Bernhoft served as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Butternut-Glidden High School.
Kyle and his wife Jenna have two daughters, Ava (13) and Allison (11). He also owns and operates Northland Elite Basketball Club, which operates tournaments and competes with traveling teams across the Midwest.
Nick Landgraf is set to begin his third year as a volunteer assistant coach within the BVU women's basketball program.
